Adult Outpatient Mental Health at Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire: Why Choose Us?

Our services teach you healthy ways of coping with unpleasant feelings and building healthy relationships with yourself and others. You receive services from a multi-specialty group that includes a psychiatrist, nurse and therapist. We get to know you, then guide you through therapies that promote healing.

Highlights of our partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs include:

  • Positive results: People who choose Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire typically achieve positive outcomes. A high percentage of people report being satisfied with their care. Nearly all participants state that their treatment goals were met. View current patient satisfaction scores
  • Medication-assisted therapy: If you have addiction in addition to a severe mental health issue, you may benefit from medication-assisted therapy. A psychiatrist prescribes drugs that curb cravings for alcohol or opioids while you learn the skills to maintain your sobriety. You do not have to complete an inpatient stay to be eligible. We are offering outpatient medication-assisted therapy.
  • Specialized care for women: Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire offers services that are attentive to how women experience and heal from mental health issues. An all-female staff helps women recover from mental health challenges due to domestic violence, rape, postpartum depression and other issues. Find out more about our Exclusively Women’s Mental Health
  • Integrative care: Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire provides more of the services you need. For many people, treatment starts with inpatient mental health services. When you are ready for outpatient care, we work together to help you have a seamless transition. Staff discuss your case as appropriate so you won’t have to re-explain your history. You can just focus on achieving new treatment goals.

Specialized Adult Outpatient Mental Health Services

We use a trauma-informed approach to care. It recognizes the ongoing effects of past trauma on your thoughts and feelings and helps you avoid reliving it. We communicate with you in a respectful, nonjudgmental way so you feel as comfortable as possible during treatment.

Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire offers a broad range of outpatient services. In addition to mental health therapies, you also participate in yoga once a week. Our programs include:

Mood disorder care

Mood disorders can cause intense feelings of happiness, sadness, anger or irritability. These feelings stay with you for long periods and disrupt your daily life. Some people need medications like antidepressants in addition to therapy to get relief.

Dual diagnosis

This track is part of our mood disorders service. It is for people who have a mental health diagnosis and addiction to substances like alcohol or opioids. In addition to learning skills that support long-term sobriety, medication-assisted therapy is also available. A psychiatrist prescribes drugs that help you fight cravings.

Thought disorder care

Thought disorders affect how you process information and express yourself. Common types include schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with severe paranoia. In addition to therapy, you may benefit from antipsychotic medications.
