Outpatient Services for Teens

Adolescent outpatient services at Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire are specifically designed to meet the mental health care needs of patients aged 12 through 17. Individuals experiencing serious behavioral disturbances or an inability to function at home or school may be appropriate for treatment in an adolescent outpatient setting. Every individual is provided with a variety of opportunities to learn new skills and to achieve success.

Warning signs of behavioral health issues may include any of the following:

  • Suicidal thoughts or actions or thoughts of death
  • Depression
  • Withdrawn behavior
  • Physical acting out towards self, others or objects
  • Mood swings
  • Alcohol addiction and/or drug abuse
  • Inability to cope with problems and daily activities

Outpatient treatment for adolescents offers a level of care for patients in need of an intensive, structured, daily therapeutic environment who do not require 24-hour care. Outpatient treatment at Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire helps teens stay on the path to recovery after an inpatient stay or to prevent inpatient hospitalization.

Our outpatient psychiatric programs promote the continued cognitive, social, physical, behavioral and emotional development in individuals. Patients receive a combination of group, family, and individual therapy, a psychiatric evaluation, medication management and treatment planning. Outpatient treatment programs include adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
